That I May Know Him Philippians 3:10

Image
This is my first scripture mapping studies.  This study is coming from one of my favorite scriptures to quote, that I may know him which is the title of this entire blog of my bible studies.   I want to do a scripture study on this verse and break this scripture down and dissect it. I use the King James Version of the bible, but I do like to study along with the Amplified Bible and The Message translations.   Philippians 3:10-12 (KJV) that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death: if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.  Different Translation:   Philippians 3:10-12 Amplified Bible (AMP) And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wond

Birth of the Church Age / The Spiritual Birth of the Second Man

In John 3 Nicodemus a Pharisee had questions for Jesus so he came to him by night. In their conversation Jesus tells him the way of salvation.  However, this does not occur until after Jesus's ascension up into heaven after his resurrection in Acts 1.   John  3: 1  There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2  The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is b

Turning Water Into Wine

What is the significance of turning water into wine?  This miracle was told in John 2:1-11.  I have been studying about Apostle Peter but keep getting sidetrack on these other hidden nuggets connected within this story.  This is one of them.  Everything Jesus did meant something.  Well let's get digging in this nugget there are so many symbolic meanings within these 11 scriptures that is most definitely worth looking into. The setting for this first miracle was a marriage celebration being held in a village in Cana believed to be near Nazareth where Jesus was born.  Mary the mother of Jesus was invited, and Jesus and his disciples had been invited.  John 2:1 tells us that the upcoming miracle happened on the 3rd Day of the celebration.  Mary the mother of Jesus must have heard the party had run out of wine which would have been very humiliating during their time.  She went and told Jesus what was going on then she turned to the servants and advised them to do whatever Jesus told th

Temptations In the Wilderness

Image
Jesus after being baptized of John and full of the Spirit had gone into the wilderness for 40 days and was tempted by the devil. The wilderness was a dry and lonely place that we may find ourselves being tempted before the anointing can be obtained.  After the devils 3 failed attempts to tempt Jesus, he left him. (Matthew 4) Then the angels came and ministered unto Jesus. I found it interesting that right after Jesus was baptized the first place of business was found in the wilderness. I have found that everything Jesus did had an important significance to it so when I was studying on Apostle Peter this really stuck out to me. I have witnessed many baptisms in my 32 years of living for the Lord. There are many people who have an idea that once they give their life to Jesus that everything in life should just be great from then on.  However, I have also seen many fall-way due to this idea, because in life we have to go through tests and trials. So, I felt that Jesus going directly to th

Process of the Harvest

In America we all use the word corn to describe a crop that grows in a field that are set in rows that produce cobs that yields a large yellow or white grain also known as kernels that is used for food by humans and livestock. However, one day in my bible readings I came across the story that mentioned ears of corn. This intrigued me as to why this would be mentioned in the Bible if it wasn't discovered until Christopher Columbus explored the New World we now know as America.     First, I want to tell you how this study came about. It has been a busy few months in my life, but I had asked God to give me a study much like the one he gave me about the fruit in the Garden of Eden.  A few days later I came across something about corn in the bible and was discussing it at work.  The next week one of my co-workers asked to know more about this. At that point I had not really thought much more about it, but I told him of the story of Joseph in Genesis 41 when Pharaoh had a dream that made

Study of Simon Peter "A Rock "

In the book of John chapter 1:15 we are given an account of John the Baptist at Bethabara beyond Jordon where he was baptizing.  In this particular day, John was asked by the Jewish priests and Levites from Jerusalem asked him, Who art thou?  John confessed, that he was not the Christ but told them, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias."  When they asked him why baptize he answered them, saying "I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.  It was the next day when John sees Jesus coming to him and says, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John bare record and said that he saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.  John knew then that this was the one as the same Spirit had told him, "Upon
