Spiritual Warfare
My thoughts tonight before going to sleep sparked by an experience earlier this evening. 1 Peter 5:8 KJV Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: ESV Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. In this scripture the Apostle is warning us to be on alert at all times by keeping a sober mind and to watch. Unless we are sober in body and in mind we cannot be watchful for ourselves or others. The enemy is an accuser of the brethren that is walking about looking eagerly for prey like a hungry lion wanting to utterly destroy someone. Here in 1 Peter 5:8 the word adversary is translated of the Hebrew word for satan. This is more than just a name it is a job description that means to oppose or block.
