Spiritual Warfare
1 Peter 5:8 KJV
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
ESV
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

In this scripture the Apostle is warning us to be on alert at all times by keeping a sober mind and to watch. Unless we are sober in body and in mind we cannot be watchful for ourselves or others. The enemy is an accuser of the brethren that is walking about looking eagerly for prey like a hungry lion wanting to utterly destroy someone. Here in 1 Peter 5:8 the word adversary is translated of the Hebrew word for satan. This is more than just a name it is a job description that means to oppose or block. It seems when you are trying to be your best, the adversary hovers over to block you. Often times you can feel his breath in your face, whispering words of defeat. He works over-time constantly trying to trip us and make us think that God can’t use us or he hasn’t delivered us from our past sins. He uses these tactics as a way to silence our voices from influencing the lives of others. He knows that by the word of our testimonies that we have the ability to release the power of Jesus. What he don’t want to admit to, is that when we apply the blood of Jesus to our lives those sins of the past is put into a sea of forgetfulness giving us the control over our brand new life, and with it the ability to silence satan and live a Victorious life full of grace and truth.
Sis Audrey just used these scriptures last night in service. Ephesians 6:10-12 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Ultimately, when you find yourself in a spiritual warfare don’t be afraid to stand up to the enemy not in your own power, but call on the name of Jesus. Be bold in the Holy Ghost and tell it to leave you be.
