Alabaster Box Story

Image
After thoughts of Wednesday nights Bible Study.    This was May 2002 cover of Pentecostal Herald I still have this edition.   I absolutely love the story of the Alabaster Box so here are my thoughts on the subject. How much does Jesus mean to you? Is there things in your life that are causing you to disconnect from Him that would cause you to sell out cheap? It is my prayers to be more like the woman who gave not just an alabaster box of perfume, but she gave him her all that day and not like Judas who in a few verses down sold out so cheaply costing him more than he bargained for.   Matthew 26:6- Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,  7- There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.  8- But when his disciples saw it , they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? 9- For this ointment might have been...

The Meaning of Family

Families are much more than just a group of persons living in one house.  Family is the foundation on which a society is formed.  The basic composition of a family changes from the Old Testament to the New Testament as Jesus provided a new understanding of family.  The household of the New Testament are outlined along with their duties for the members as husband, wife, child, slaves, servants, and others who live there for various reasons.  Understanding the biblical family structures, commitments, and functions are essential to the successfulness of one's society. The structure of the New Testament Christian family starts with God's order for the family to be a man and woman, as husband and wife.  Unlike the Old Testament the New Testament family founded on a love bond experience by both male and female in contrast to the arranged marriages of the Old Testament.  Women were not to be considered property by men, but rather were to be loved and nurtured....

Learning to Pray

P osted by Sylvia on November 19, 2008 at 8:30am  on Everyone's Apostolic Matthew 6:7-8 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Have you ever wanted to pray out loud? You know that intercessors prayer style that makes your very soul chill to the bone when you hear the bro and sis's in the prayer rooms, however you are scared to death to pray outloud, especially with someone around you. Don't worry your not alone a thousand other if not more feel the very same way. Most of the time it is because we just don't know how too and so you think it is just better to stay out of the prayer rooms or prayer meetings or even say a short bedtime and go to bed. This is a must try to help you learn how to become the prayer warrior you long to be. You know the old saying you have t...

PTC's LifeSaver Bus

Image
Posted by Sylvia on August 1, 2008 at 3:30pm  to Everyone's Apostolic I just wanted to say how HAPPY I am over our new look on the bus. I just can't hardly wait.     Before picture We began raising money to paint our white church bus in July of 2007 after seeing a bus in an issue of the Pentecostal Herald, featuring the First United Pentecostal Church of Ferriday, Lousiana's LifeSaver Bus. We thank this wonderful church for their great paint job idea and for the picture they sent us to give to the guys who painted our bus. I know it will be a blessing to our city and our children. I am looking for a Holy Ghost Revival in our Kings Kids Church. I have had 10 this year get the Holy Ghost. Bus ministry is important to me as I was once a bus kid myself.  I may not be where I am today without someone having a passion for kids.  It takes a lot of time and effort to build a children's ministry that many people take for granted.  Even i...

The Annointed Journey

Image
This is an entry in my journal made on December 5, 2006.  The Parable of the Mustard Seed found in Mark 4:30-32 which reads as follows: 30) And he said, where unto shall we liken the Kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?  The mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds and will stay that way. 31) It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when action is put into this little seed will astonish many. 32) But when it is sown, it growth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches: so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.  From the day that God said let there be a me, I have been put on an anointed journey.  Just as a mustard seed started out small so did I.  Each day I grow it is a learning experience.  This anointed journey has been set before me.  It gets rough and rocky.  It has smoo...
